“If you go down to the woods today, you better”…bring some skis and elbow pads.
I’ve been walking in La Caldera in the Orotava Valley in the north west of Tenerife and the summer heat has left dried pine needles the depth of the pile in an Axminster carpet. Beautifully scented they may be, but to the soles of sandals they’re like compacted ice that’s been polished and then buffed up for extra good measure.
It’s no exaggeration to say that the beauty of this region swept me off my feet.
From fresh pine to fish farm and uphill struggle to downhill slalom, Living Tenerife’s November issue and website brings you the best of the Orotava Valley’s trails.
